Hydro Tasmania puts its runner where its money is

The Three Peaks Race naming rights sponsor, Hydro Tasmania, is putting more than cash into this year’s race with its Sponsorship Coordinator, Jane Crosswell, stepping up to the line as a team runner.

Ms Crosswell, who regularly participates in endurance events, will be a runner on board Hobart-based yacht Farr 37 Pippin.

Hydro Tasmania Chief Executive Officer, Mr Geoff Willis, said the Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race fits well with its business values.

“We are strongly committed to the values of working together and having a positive and determined attitude,” Mr Willis said.

“These are the values that help get our business across the line and equally apply to the teams in the Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race as they test their strength and endurance against the elements.

“This year we are also leveraging our partnership with the Clean Up Australia Campaign by providing each yacht with Clean Up Bags to help the teams manage rubbish onboard and ensure the ongoing sustainability of our waterways.

“At Hydro Tasmania, safety is our number one priority and we wish this year’s teams an exciting race and urge all team members to stay safe.”

The race will start on Good Friday, 25 March from Beauty Point and finish the following Monday in Hobart at Constitution Dock.

Race Director, Mr Alastair Douglas, said 14 teams will compete in this year’s race.

“Competitors will run a total of 160 kilometres as they race up Mt Strzelecki on Flinders Island, Mt Freycinet on the East Coast and Mount Wellington in Hobart,” Mr Douglas said.

“The crews will also sail 600 kilometres of Tasmania’s coastline.

“Well wishers can send messages of encouragement to the teams through the website at www.threepeaks.org.au.”
