EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING
CARRIED BY RUNNERS

1. BETWEEN ANY TWO RUNNERS IN A TEAM

A complete TASMAP Survey map is provided by the Race Organisers. The map must not be cut down or reduced in size.

2. CLOTHING TO BE CARRIED

ALL RUNNERS WHO UNDERTAKE THE MOUNTAIN RUNNING LEGS must have the following items of clothing and equipment with them at all times that they are on land. Items of clothing that are not being worn must be carried.

EACH PERSON

    a) Thermal long-sleeved top (polypropylene)
    b) Thermal long pants (polypropylene)
    c) Windproof and waterproof jacket
    d) Windproof and waterproof pants
    e) Lightweight Polartec fleece top (100 weight)
    f) Thermal or fleece gloves
    g) Balaclava
    h) Adequate footwear
    i) Rucksack
    j) Sleeping bag, down or synthetic weighing a minimum 500 grams.
    k) Polythene bag, heavy gauge at least 6'x 3' or emergency space survival bag.
    l) Head torch with spare batteries or hand torch with spare batteries and bulb
    m) Emergency rations - chocolate, power bars, etc, minimum 4 oz.
    n) First aid equipment to include:
    * wound dressing (one large),
    * 3" elastic adhesive bandage,
    * two triangular bandages.
    o) Whistle
    p) Luminous compass
    q) Pencil (at least 100 mm long) and note paper
    r) Waterproof matches (1 full box)

3. REFLECTIVE CLOTHING

Runners must wear reflective material on their clothing to improve their visibility while running at night on public roads carrying traffic.

It is recommended that running gear is purchased from Paddy Pallin in Launceston and running shoes from The Athlete's Foot in Hobart.
